moneymagnetThe best salesman is a person who can sell a customer a product without the customer realizing he is being sold. In this day and age, no one likes the high pressure sales pitch so successful marketers have to find other ways to push their products, without being pushy. This is the reason you now see car dealerships being built with fancy lounges and coffee shops to improve the experience for their customers. High end department stores like Nordstroms are also building in added amenities like a café to make the store more attractive to shoppers.

Attraction marketing can work for home based businesses as well. The front door to your business is often your website so start by making it user friendly. Dress it up with fancy graphics and video where possible. Make sure that the content reads more like a magazine article than promotional literature so that readers aren’t turned off. Customer testimonials are a great way to introduce new people to your product and since the pitch isn’t coming from a salesman, the person doesn’t feel like he is being sold.

All home businesses need to use their websites to gather customer information; phone numbers and emails are essential to marketing your product but too many try to do it by forcing people to register and provide information they are reluctant to share. Attraction marketing calls for the businesses to be more subtle in their inquiries. Make it worthwhile for someone to give up that information by offering a free sample or a chance at winning something. Amazon.com is a perfect example of a site that understands what people want. It offers products with customer reviews that are positive and negative, in a way that is very easy to navigate. If you do see something you want to buy it is only one click away. There are no annoying pop ups or diversions to other areas in an attempt to sell you something else.

The underlying principle in attraction marketing is to make the process of buying a pleasurable one and one that the customer is likely to repeat. Your website, in addition to being a sales tool, should also be a resource for your customers that they will come to over and over again. You may not sell them something every time but if you can provide them with useful information related to your industry, they are more likely to return.

The Importance of Brand Recognition

personalbranding2Have you ever wondered why some people are so successful in Network Marketing, while for others it seems to be an endless struggle?  Successful Leaders know the different MLM secrets and you can too. How many times have you heard the statement, “In order to be successful in Network Marketing you need to BRAND yourself.”  For the seasoned Network Marketer, they know exactly what this means and how important it is.  For someone new, this could be very confusing.

Brand recognition simply means: a measurement of the ability of consumers to recall their experience or knowledge of a particular brand. Brand recognition forms part of brand awareness.  This entails  “making a name for yourself”  and “creating a presence” on the web so that people see you, recognize who you are and respect you as a leader.

Here are a few tips on how to do this.

1.  Select a picture of yourself that you really like and use that wherever you can upload a photo. Examples include: Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, your blog, People String, Skype, My Space, and any other social media sites you may be a member of.  People will see your picture and begin to recognize you.

2.  Select a name whether it be your own or  a company name and use that for your domain name. When people see things posted by you, they will begin to notice your name and actually begin to search for other things that you have done.

3. BE CONSISTENT-Whatever marketing you may choose to do, be consistent.  Whether it be Blogging, article writing, or a combination.  Make sure to do so on a regular basis.  The more exposure you get, the more people will notice you and begin to trust you as a respected leader.

ss-7853536-potOfGoldBelonging to a bunch of social networks simply because you know that you need to be on them for business isn’t enough to get results.

Twitter is the latest craze that is all the rage right now, and just like all the others, everyone is flocking to it without really understanding how to harness its power. So, I’m going to share with you 10 dirty little secrets that work for ALL social networks alike that will pull in leads like a big game fisherman casting a wide net in the ocean.

1. Tell your personal story on your profile page – avoid putting up a bunch of content about your business or your products. Open up and let people see that you’re a real person. People will stop by to learn about you, so give them something they can relate to.

2. Join specific groups that are targeted for your business – this is where you can begin to identify your target audience. Do a keyword search in the groups to find the ones that are relevant and JOIN THEM ALL. More on that in a moment.

3. Start writing content that is valuable to the group – people are always looking for tips, tricks, tactics, techniques and other creative ideas to help their business, so be that creative source. Be consistent with your writing and make it compelling.

4. Post your content on all the groups that you belong to – not everyone that is part of one group belongs to all the others, so make sure to spread your knowledge around in mass.

5. Follow up on EVERY comment posted to your article – when someone takes the time to write feedback on your content, take a moment to thank them for their contribution. Hint: when you get up to about 10 comments, your readership DOUBLES. So, help those numbers rise by commenting behind everyone.

6. Make friend connections with those respondents – it doesn’t work to randomly go around soliciting for friend requests. It’s better to have added value to someone first which proves to them you are someone they should connect with. Send another private note thanking them for their feedback and requesting to become friends. 80% of the people will connect with you.

7. Only accept friend requests if it is relevant to your purpose on the site – you’ll get people trying to connect with you at random, but don’t accept it just to build up a friend list. Remember, you’re there to market your business to a targeted audience, and you want to keep your friend inventory as pure as possible.

8. Make comments on other group member’s discussion topics – this is a powerful way to keep you in front of people. Simply post a few lines in support of the content, praise the writer, and that’s it. When you sign your name, make sure to ONLY put your full name and website link. Don’t’ try to sell. Set a daily goal on how many responses you want to make and be consistent.

9. Survey your friends to find out what their needs are and meet them – once per week, send out information to your friends that are more targeted to their specific needs, and soft promote your site. Now you’re starting to drive traffic outside of your articles!

10. At least twice per month, send an invitation to participate in an event that’s not part of the community – you’ve been adding value to them so this is a comfortable and acceptable approach to promoting your business. If you were doing this step on the front end, it would not work.

Remember, it’s always about adding value up front, not about selling your business. Give enough of yourself in the right way, and people will attach themselves to you like groupies. I guess that makes you an internet rock star, right? Not bad!

bigstockphoto_freephoto-Using_Laptop_814211Today’s economy isn’t just a story about financial hardship and people losing their jobs, it is also a story of people becoming ‘recession entrepreneurs’ and carving out their own niche in the marketplace because there are so few other options than going into business for yourself.

There are many people and many products online that are offering less-than-genuine offers of starting one’s own home based business. There may be a sucker born every minute, and ten pyramid and ponzi schemes invented for every sucker, but you don’t’ have to be one of them. The Federal Trade Commission just doesn’t have enough manpower to regulate and shut down every illegitimate business, but there are steps you can do to protect yourself while starting your own home based business.

First, look for companies that have been around a few years, chances are, a fly by night marketing scheme can’t sustain their web hosting on a bad product. Look for link to reputable news sources where you trust the reporter has done some homework to make sure they were reporting on a legitimate business. Look for founders of businesses with successes outside of their marketing programs and who have started their business or businesses to fill a niche in the market, not to get rich quick.

Of course, once you find a company that you feel you can trust, make sure you are ready to handle the urgency it requires to work for yourself. Being able to put every bit of energy into your work is the only way you will be able to fulfill you end of any bargain you make with an online marketing company.

There are many internet ‘business in a box’ solutions out there that can meet your needs and talents. Look to start your own home business with a system that has an application process and looks after its clients. Read their client testimonies carefully and look between the lines. Be sure to understand clearly what you are getting into and look for businesses helping you start a home based business that explains things clearly and carefully and offer training and workshops. Businesses with good clear communication can be an indication that they are for real interested in your economic security as well as their own.

Marketing online can be tricky and a difficult landscape to navigate, but being able to ask lots of questions and have them answered clearly are the signs you are getting a great return on your investment when starting a home based business.
